About Us

A Guatemala non-profit organization was founded in October 2011, but the concepts that it represents were begun in 1965 by Bonita Hedrick Justice when she moved with her husband to Puerto Rico.

There she discovered poverty in the third world, and was unwilling to merely observe. She quickly determined to do whatever she could to alleviate the suffering of any underprivileged person that came within her orbit.

In addition to doing whatever she could, she recruited her family to help in her cause, thus influencing a mind-set of charity in them also. As the family moved to different countries for Lynn’s work, Bonita and her family left a legacy of love and charity in each place they lived.

Teaching the Principle of Charity in the School:

Bonita was not satisfied with merely teaching the principle of charity to her family.

When she founded her school in 1988, she determined that her students and staff would also learn to care about the needy in their communities, through serving them.

Thus from the beginning, all Equity American School students have actively participated in community service projects, often on site, where the students and staff could see and feel the results of their efforts through the tears of gratitude shed by the recipients of their charity.
